Net-Zero by 2045: A Strategic Commitment
BelAlu Rolling is working toward net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2045. This long-term goal is supported by ISO 50001-aligned energy management practices, electrification of heat-intensive operations, and a shift away from fossil fuels through renewable energy procurement.
Powering Change Through Renewable Energy
We're securing long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) for wind and solar energy, exploring on-site renewables, and progressively phasing in electric alternatives to natural gas across our rolling and heat treatment processes.
Interim Emissions Targets: 2028 Milestone
By 2028, BelAlu will have implemented advanced heat recovery systems and upgraded production lines, resulting in a 25% reduction in direct emissions. These efforts are tracked through annual sustainability audits and transparent reporting.
Renewable Electricity Expansion
Our new solar park, operational in 2026, will supply 20% of our site's electricity needs. Additional wind energy contracts will bring us to 90% renewable electricity by 2028, with real-time monitoring of our energy mix.
Customer Partnerships for Circularity
BelAlu's closed-loop program with automotive and construction clients ensures that post-consumer and post-industrial scrap is returned, recycled, and reintegrated into new products, supporting a circular economy in Belgium.

BelAlu Rolling Secures Clean Energy from Belgian Offshore Wind
We're proud to share that BelAlu Rolling now sources renewable electricity from a wind farm in the Belgian North Sea. Through a 5-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), we've secured up to 135 gigawatt hours of green energy — the equivalent of powering approximately 40,500 households annually.

Eco-Friendly Barge Cuts Road Transport to Antwerp
In 2022, BelAlu Rolling introduced a more sustainable logistics solution by shifting export container transport to barges for shipments to the Port of Antwerp. This initiative has reduced road traffic to the port by 72% — saving approximately 56,000 kilometres of truck travel each year.

This autumn, BelAlu Rolling launched a major clean-up across our factory premises. Eight dedicated teams, each led by a coordinator, combed the site to collect litter and waste — reinforcing our commitment to a clean, safe, and respectful working environment.
